The one-page resume template format is best for students and entry-level professionals. Do you love the template but need more than one page? No problem. When deciding how to organize and format your resume
, it is helpful to think of it as a pyramid. The top point of the pyramid represents the most relevant and compelling qualifications that you offer. The base of the pyramid represents the less-relevant experience and qualifications (if it is NOT relevant at all, it shouldn't be included on your resume).
This is why student resumes often include education near the front of the resume followed by experience. Very often students have limited work experience and their education is the most relevant qualification. More experienced professionals usually organize their resumes so that the professional chronology comes first followed by education at the end.
Also note that none of our student resume templates, including this one-page resume template, includes an "Objective" section. In most cases, you should not include an objective section in your resume. Instead, replace the objective with a focus headline followed by a summary of qualifications related to your focus. Why? It's simple. Your resume is about the employer and the employer's needs, not your needs. Objectives are written to tell the reader what you want from them. A headline and qualifications summary section serve the opposite purpose, telling the employer where you "fit" in their organization and what you offer them.
